About Google's roof data
For each part of a roof, Google's Solar API gives the size, the slope, which way it faces and how much sun it gets. It also works out how many panels fit and how much power they make in a year, and it comes with an aerial or satellite photo.
How to use it
Type your Eircode or address in the box above and press "Check my roof". Use the slider to try more or fewer panels.
The SEAI solar grant
The most the grant pays is €1,800, and your home must have been built and lived in before 2025. You also have to use an SEAI-registered company. The full rules are in our SEAI solar grant guide.
Book a survey
For a real price, someone has to see the roof. Press "Book a survey for this roof" and fill in the short form to send your request.
What to check on the visit
- Get the installer to look at the roof itself. Old felt or tired slates may need work first, and only someone up a ladder can tell you.
- Ask them to check your fuse board and wiring while they're there.
- If the photo shows your house before an extension went up or a tree grew, tell the installer.
